REMEMBER THE GST? Fool us once, shame on you . . . fool us twice, SHAME ON BC!
blank

Congratulations! You did it!

Congratulations! We hit our internal 15% mark in every riding with 3 weeks to spare! This is achievement is epic in its implications, and you have all been a part of making history in BC.

There are still thousands of folks wanting to sign the petition and many canvassers wanting to take their signatures during the next two weeks.

June 27th is our last day for collecting signatures, so let’s go get ‘em!

With the resignation of former cabinet minister, Blair Lekstrom, our campaign has just scored its first direct hit. There will be more to come in the weeks and months ahead.

Premier Campbell has announced he is going to begin ‘promoting’ his hated sales tax immediately following our petition.

I am urging everyone to check for dates, times and locations within their local communities for his appearances, and to organize protests at each of his events!

There is nothing that will put the kibosh to his plans faster than dozens of protesters with signs chanting about how much we hate the HST. Any ‘good’ publicity he thinks he will gain will be utterly demolished by crowds of angry protestors.

We don’t have airplanes, large staffs and gobs of advertising to compete with the premier, not to mention access to limitless tax dollars to finance our message as he does, so we have to work smarter.

PROTEST! PROTEST! PROTEST!

Let’s stop this sham ‘discussion’ by the elected dictator of BC dead in its tracks. Find out where he will be this summer, and show up en mass to let him know we won’t be fooled or buffaloed by his heavy-handed slap in our faces over the HST.

Once again – congratulations!

God bless you all for making this happen.

This is a time for BC to take notice. We, the people have spoken and We, the people have demanded respect by our Government.

Let the demands be heard at every single public rally Dictator Campbell wastes our tax dollars on to convince us that he needs more tax dollars!

The Old Priest

The old priest lay dying in the hospital.

For years he had faithfully served the people of Victoria.

He motioned for his nurse to come near.

“Yes, Father?” said the nurse.

“I would really like to see Gordon Campbell and Kevin Falcon before I

Die,” whispered the Priest.

“I’ll see what I can do, Father,” replied the nurse. The nurse sent the

Request to the Premier’s office and waited for a response.

Soon the word arrived that the Premier and Minister of Health, devoted

Christians both, were delighted to visit the Priest.

As they went to the hospital, Gordon commented to Kevin

“I don’t know why the old Priest wants to see us but it will certainly

Help

Our images and might even get us some favorable publicity for our HST

Deal.”

Kevin agreed that it was a good thing. When they arrived at the Priest’s

Room, the Priest took

Gordon’s hand in his right hand and Kevin’s hand in his left. There was

Silence and a look of serenity on the old Priest’s face.

Finally Gordon Campbell spoke. “Father, of all the people you could have

Chosen, why did you choose us to be with you as you near the end?”

The old Priest slowly replied, “I have always tried to pattern my life

After our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”

“Amen,” said Gordon. “Amen,” said Kevin.

The old Priest continued, “Jesus died between two thieves. I

Would like to do the same!”

I think our premier is in shock right now – he was caught in another one of his forceful moves!! Hopefully this time BC’rs will have learned what a lier he is and not vote him in again. He will be going out once again trying to convince people how he was thinking of health care, education, etc. and I hope that people are wise enough this time to know it is garbage.

Just why exactly are you opposed to the NDP?
Could it be that you have been conditioned by the Liberals and what’s left of the mainstream media in BC?
If so, I suggest sir that you have been woefully misinformed and further you have believed everything that has been written by yellow journalists that are blatantly backing this dictator in Victoria.

These aren’t people who should be allowed to continue to run the government. If anyone thinks the liberals are doing a good job, I would say they haven’t been paying nearly enough attention. My Father, whom I respect, usually has different views than I. He is generally far right while I tend to be middle of the road leaning right in the political spectrum.

Dad has been Social Credit and then Liberal after the Social Credit fallout. I will note he is still a big fan of Bill Vanderzalm.

Personally, I have voted Liberal because of past NDP stupidity. The last elections, Provincially and Federally, I have voted Green.

Provincially, the B.C. Green Party leader should either step down or be ousted for her own, in my opinion, vast array of ridiculous comments. She is hurting any progress that party could possibly have here. She is not a viable third party alternative and I would rather vote NDP (*shivers*), than have her and her personal beliefs in any kind of power.

Carole James doesn’t provide me with any confidence in her ability to lead her party, for the people of B.C. She seems lukewarm at best in her handling the HST debacle.

I will not ever vote Liberal again until ALL standing Cabinet Ministers have lost an election or departed the party.

Back to my Father, who votes hard C for the Conservative party Federally and has done so for my entire life. He has done the same Provincially, voting right wing year after year…

This year, Dad tells me, to my jaw-dropping shock {the same man who glared at me for voting Green party}, that he despises the Liberal government and is going to vote NDP unless there is another, better, alternative next Provincial election.

Myself, well, I’m not voting Liberal that’s for certain.

Vicki Huntington got my vote last time round and I’m proud of what our little community did.

What we have is the Liberal elitists who give themselves a huge 30%+ raise for bogus reasons, then nail us taxpayers because we had no say in either their raise or in what taxation plan we can support.

We taxpayers of BC need an easier way to let politicians know what we think of their proposed legislation. Coupled with that, we must have assurance that the politicians are obliged to comply with our wishes.

Referenda are effective because that method is as close to majority rule as a society can get.

It’s only fair and we deserve a say in what we pay.

No!! Every valid signature adds to our power and puts us yet further from disqualification.

That being said, I am celebrating that critical 15% milestone.

Congratulations and profound thanks to Bill Vander Zalm, Chris Delaney, Bill Tieleman, Patricia Storey, Cheryl Baron and all the other organizing and administrative staff whose names I don’t know.

Let us not praise the resigning Blair Lekstrom, the architect of the give away of our rivers and the new “Clean” Energy Act- both resulting in costing BC citizens a doubling of hydro rates(over the next couple of years)to finance corporations not resident in BC and to build their private infrastructure at taxpayer cost. He is so shamed in his riding he had to resign in order to just walk down the sidewalk in his hometown. He is only trying to avoid political execution by jumping a sinking ship. Let us hope this individual does not show up in any newly-formed Conservative party!

I truly believe that Mr Campbell simply doesn’t get it. He is so full of himself, so well insulated from us ‘common folk’ that he believes “explaining it to the people” means spending millions of dollars going around the province saying “trust me!” We don’t, and we never will – and he doesn’t get that, either!

The head of GM once said “What’s good for General Motors is good for the country.” I believe Mr Campbell is paraphrasing this to mean “What’s good for me and my friends is good for BC.”

If we had adopted the STV, there would be a lot more MLAs doing what Mr Lekstrom did – consider their constituents’ wishes instead of the wishes of the Liberal Party backers’ wishes.

Maybe someday we’ll get it right.

I’m just afraid that this anger and protest against the HST is turning into a pro NDP movement.

So Gary E., after surviving 3 NDP governments in this province during my lifetime, I will never, support them again. It has nothing to do with being brainwashed by the Liberals and everything to do with the life experience of seeing how the province was run under Barrett, Harcourt and Clark.

I remember the mass migration of welfare recipients from Alberta and the rest of Canada in the early 70′s into BC because of NDP socialist policy. They almost bankrupt the province. Then of course there was the Glenn Clark fast ferry nonsense………this list of NDP blunders that wasted millions (and probably billions) in taxpayer dollars is endless.

That’s right Bob. Because of the heat over HST, the Clean Energy Act got overlooked. There is an article in the papers recently about that. The Clean Energy Act is a bigger issue than HST. It has a nice title but what it really does is to line the pockets of Campbell’s buddies at our expense. Campbell is just like all other third world dictators before him.

I would not be too hard on Blair. He is merely doing what Campbell says. As revealed by the BC Rail case that is going on, Campbell controls everything right down to the highway signs. His ministers are also under orders to mention what a wonderful leader Campbell is in their speeches.

One forgotten item: The Lib’s found the NDP’s books balanced and rosy when they took office in 2001. There was no ‘fudge it budget’. It was only one of Gordie’s martini diluted dreams. Now HST is his nightmare. Stephen Harper and his MP’s in BC are just as guilty.
This IS also Harper’s baby. I say>>>lose the Fed Consevatives too! The tax breaks given to business is a farce because how many manufactures will ship goods out of Canada for sale, bypassing the BC consumer all together?! More than you know folks! And we pay the price by HST.
I am a proud Union worker. But that is not relevant. My spouse is a non-union worker. Not relevant either. Why??
Guess what? We will BOTH pay HST.
THIS TAX KNOWS NO BOUNDARIES!

What a great experiance to see the brunt of ‘we the people’ sticking together, rather than saying “ok Gordie…tax us even more please”.

So Mr Griffin…this ain’t no rally for ANY party. It’s for the good of all who call BC home! BTW I voted for Adian Dix because he was CLEARLY the BEST person for the job. The green guy was a bit too ‘groovy’ for me.

For Bill Griffin (sorry about the typo on your name earlier) and others.

I too have lived under the previous NDP governments you speak of.

Yes I agree their have been mistakes made. And even sometimes I have thought about changing my vote. But what I discovered with the right wing big business supported parties shook me to my foundation. This is big money talking not the actual voters. The people that elected them. It has been going on in this province since WAC Bennett go arrogant in his last term in office. And has escalated since then to what you see today. An arrogant micromanager with millions of dollars in support that could give a rat’s ass as to what he is doing to the people.

As far a Glen Clark goes. Where did he go wrong? I’ll tell you. He didn’t watch his back. Just like Gordon Wilson didn’t watch his. Both scandals erupted from Gordon Campbells office. And the fast Ferries were never a fiasco. The problems with the ferries could have been fixed (proven by engineers)and not reported by the mainstream media but it was too late. The damage was done by the repeated showing night after night of Clark pacing in his home and the mainstream media pounding these images into us. Yellow Journalism in its finest.
Where is the MSM on all Campbells lies.

So I might suggest here that you are believing what you read in the MSM. Which is obviously biased in this province. Let me know if and when you see the media reporting on this news release? And if they do, have a look at how it is written up.

The actions of the Campbell Government in ramming the HST through is disgusting! The only thing more disgusting is the apathy of the population in general.

People need to remember that if EVERYONE stands up and makes their voice heard elected officials are far more likely to pay attention to the will of the electorate.

“Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage” – Author Unknown

When the protests begin , on’t forget to bring along the vuvuzelas (see Province Opinion page cartoon June 16)
As for NDP wasting money, they were bushleaguers compared to this gang – check out the Olympic security overruns or the barely used Goldenears Bridge for example. NDP offers poor to mediocre government, while the Socred/Liberals provide absolutely rotten, incompetent and corrupt government. If we want to see better performance from any government we need a huge increase in public participation in the political parties, which will prevent interested and cliquish elites from running the show – whether that be union puppets for the NDP, or business puppets for the Libs, or puppets of the corporate green groups like Sierra Club and WCWC for the Weenies! These people run things for themselves and their buddies, not the public, and are all remarkably alike under the surface.
Isn’t it interesting that flaming socialist Glen Clark has now spent much more time working for Jimmy P than Gordo ever spent working in the private sector. Noone works for Jimmy for more than a day or two if they are not making money for him, so Glen must be doing a good job!

I assume you’re thinking about the recall campaign, but it’s silly to assume you have to choose one over the other. Even if that succeeded, it does NOT mean you can’t vote for the Liberals. Feel free to vote for them, or anyone else! Your vote will carry the same weight it always does. It won’t be forgotten! Just don’t be surprised if the NDP makes a lot of noise. With only two major parties over here, we have the unfortunate situation that anything anti-Liberal is pro-NDP by default.

Unfortunately, we still have the same problem either way: our representatives will always put their own parties first. With that situation in place, it doesn’t matter WHO is in power. I think that is the more important issue here, and the idea of pressuring individual MLAs strikes me as really excellent to that end.

Thanks Bill Vander Zalm for sticking your neck out and making this all happen. I didn’t vote for you for Social Credit but you are getting my vote now.
Lets have a real Liberal Leader take over and get rid of this Conservative.

Just a note to let you know that I still have not received a reply from Gordon Campbell or Shirley Bond (my MLA) with regard to the notice letter I sent them re RECALL IN THE FALL and HST. The silence speaks volumes doesn’t it!

Also, I sent a copy of the same to Ottawa to show the national party leaders just what is happening in BC and how the local electorate are getting angry enough to want to dump the corrupt government they now have.

Thank you

If this website could post a schedule of Campbells HST promoting tour (when dates are set), I think it would be a great help to those of us who want to show up at an event with anti-HST signs in hand.
You are doing an amazing job representing so many of us. Thanks!

The amazing thing is it is done. Now couldn,t all the pro HST programming on CKNW be considered as fighting the HST while unregistered. Does it meet election BC ,s pro HST criteria as they are not registered. What services would you cut to pay back our federal bribe? A loaded pro HST question.

It’s wonderful of all the people and the Zalm, who worked so hard for the anti-HST. I wish the governing system in BC could be revamped. There should be severe penalties for, corruption, misleading the citizens, breaking their promises, once elected, abusing expense accounts, they should be open for citizens to see, hiding information, such as debt. That Campbell had the gall to give himself a 53% wage hike, and the Ministers 29%, that was no where near being deserved. Selling the peoples assets and natural resources, out from under us. This is not a leader, I can’t even think of Campbell as a premier, because, he lied and cheated to win. Dictatorship, should not be in our government. I had 3 brothers and a sister, in WW11. Our young Canadian boys were blown to hell, so we wouldn’t have dictators in our country. Did they die for nothing?

We the people have the power to elect a governement who will take care of the needs of the people. We also have the right to TAKE THIS GOVERNMENT DOWN when their power becomes abused.

EVERY PERSON IN BC DOES NOT WANT HST TO BE IMPLEMENTED. We have all spoken out and signed the petition, and what happens? We are told to F**k off by the liberals because it doesn’t matter what we think.

THEY ARE SPENDING OUR TAX MONEY ON PROPAGANDA TO BRAINWASH THE PEOPLE THAT HST IS A GOOD THING. WAKE UP B.C. ITS TIME TO TAKE WHATEVER MEASURES ARE NECESSARY TO END THIS!

Campbell has worked hard for 9 years at, devaluing our jobs and wages. He has given us a new tax, for every one of those 9 years. He has caused the loss of, 30.000 mill jobs. Mills were shipped to China, along with BC’s raw logs, we don’t even get the processing jobs for BC. Campbell has destroyed, our Health care, education and everything he touches. BC people, are so heavily taxed by the budget and the HST, they will collapse, under the load. Small businesses, are closing their doors, because, they can’t withstand the HST. Every city and town, Campbell will go to, and try to sell the BC people, on the HST, will be met by, protesters and rally’s. We resent the money that will be spent on, Campbell and his huge security costs, to toodle all over BC. Every time Campbell, Hansen and the BC Liberals, open their mouths, it is automatically considered a lie. How many BC Liberal Ministers, have been under investigation now? There is no credibility left, for the entire BC Liberal party.

To Mr Vander Zalm, and Chris Delaney. I want to thank you both for your leadership on this issue. You’ve inspired a province and the effects of our actions will be felt across the country. Our little group has made history.

This now is no longer about a tax for me. Its about democracy. We now as a province have a moral obligation to remove the premier and his friends from office. This petition has given back the voice of the public that was stolen during last election. Although our fight isn’t over it shows the public that what Mr Campbell and Mr Hansen did was wrong.

The HST in its death will do the whole country more good then if it stays. It will galvanize the need for more accountability in government and it will encourage more public participation. Hopefully it will also reverse the trend of low voter turnout in the next election. We must win this. It is the most important political battle this province has ever seen.

Down with patronage and corruption! Down with the Campbell government!

Let’s not forget the underlying problem that brought us this HST situation…a Government that establishes policy without public consultation and dictates according to its own self-serving whims…

Let’s not simply vote for another party to replace this one…Let’s work to re-create real democracy…which would permit individuals to have real say in policy development…’Of the People, By the People, For the People’…

Vote for a party that will initiate a real polling of the people prior to establishing policy…that would be democracy…

You would think Campbell would get the message. The vast number of BC citizens signing the petitions, have expressed their opinion of him. Campbell has forced BC people, to put up with a dictator, his multitude of lies, and the destruction of our province. He steals the taxpayers funds, to give himself a 53% wage hike, he didn’t deserve. His henchmen got a 29% increase. He steals, and sells, the citizens assets and natural resources, to line his own pockets. He walks away with a $2 million per year pension. There is no Constitution in BC. Citizens, Civil Rights and Liberties, have been taken away. Democracy and Freedom, Campbell thumbs his nose at. He is the master of, dirty tactics, a liar, deceiver, broken promises, spite, hate, vendetta’s. If there was any democracy in BC, Campbell would be gone. It is not democratic of him, to force his ugly being, on the people, who despise him.
