Opposition to this tax truly transcends party politics.
The first kick off rally will be hosted by former premier Vander Zalm on Saturday, September 19 at 12:00 noon at Canada Place.
Confirmed guest speakers:
Bill Vander Zalm – Former BC Premier, Social Credit Party
Carole James – Leader of BC’s Opposition, New Democratic Party
Vicki Huntington – Independent MLA, Delta South
Chris Delaney – Deputy Leader of the BC Conservative Party
Green Party Leader Jane Sterk has declined to participate
Mr. Vander Zalm believes all British Columbians opposed to this tax must work together to defeat it in a united effort to hold the government to account. More guest speakers will be announced in the days/weeks ahead.
Global TV – Ipsos Reid poll shows 85% oppose HST
A Global TV poll conducted by Ipsos Reid found that 85% of British Columbians surveyed opposed the Harmonized Sales Tax.
And 71% said they “strongly oppose” the HST, while just 12% are in favour of the HST.
87% expect the HST to hurt them financially, including 51% who believe it will have a “very negative impact”.

I am very much against the HST. Let’s face it the maritime provinces that have introduced this sort of tax in the hopes it would better things are among the poorest provinces in Canada. Letting Gordon Campbell convince people that this is going to help us is a huge mistake. We will lose much more than we will gain
I was in Vancouver today, moving my daughter to UBC, and meeting with Chris Delaney to discuss a rally in Victoria. I was listening to CKNW (my god, they really ARE biased, aren’t they?) with Colin Hanson on, giving his (revised) version of events/timelines of what and when he knew about the budget going bad on him….He comments that he met Minister Flaherty on the 10th of May and Bill Good jumps right in and saves his ass by saying “10th of June”. Wonder if we can find any travel records for that date for mr. Hanson???
Yeah, they’d be in even deeper doodoo if they didn’t have Bill Good to save their ass.
