FIGHT HST RECALL RECRUITMENT CAMPAIGN BREAKS 3,000 CANVASSERS PROVINCE WIDE
Kamloops North moves into first place with 201 canvassers signed
Two more ridings added to campaign – Langley and Kamloops South
PORT COQUITLAM – The campaign to recruit canvassers for the Fight HST MLA Survivor Recall went into overtime this past week with Kamloops North breaking the 200 canvasser mark to move into first place, bringing the total number of canvassers signed province wide to 3,007 says Fight HST Lead Organizer, Chris Delaney.
Delaney says Oak Bay – Gordon Head is in second place with 199 canvassers, followed by Cariboo Chilcotin with 196. “There is a virtual three way tie for first place. At 200 canvassers, a riding only needs one or two signatures per canvasser per day to succeed at a Recall.”
“Six other ridings have obtained the critical mass of 100 or more canvassers that we believe is necessary to effect a successful Recall. Comox Valley is hot on the heels of the three leading constituencies with 189 canvassers, followed by Saanich North at 187, Boundary Similkameen at 158, Parksville-Qualicum at 131, Maple Ridge at 111, and Vancouver Quilchena at 110,” said Delaney.
“That gives us 9 solid ridings that can immediately undertake Recalls, with another eleven at various stages of organization. That includes two more ridings with the addition this week of Kamloops South and Langley. These ridings will provide solid backups to the lead ridings since Recalls could carry on well through the spring next year, depending on the demand from British Columbians.”
Delaney says the ridings where Fight HST has strong leadership and organizational skills have rocketed in the last week. “There seems to have been a big bounce in interest across the province since Premier Campbell’s televised address last week. I guess his lack of contrition about the HST only motivated the voters for Recall even more,” said Delaney.
Delaney says with two weeks to go in the recruitment campaign, the race is tightening. “We’ll have several options by the time we finish. Given the close nature of the race, we’ll be discussing with the top ridings which ones want to go first, which ones want to wait, and when each riding wishes to launch their Recall. Once we have a consensus based on the numbers and the desire by the ridings, we will announce the winners at the contest close, which will coincide with the date Recalls can begin - November 15.”

Point Grey and Quilchena hit 10% with 6 weeks still to go.
Port Coquitlam – Fight HST Lead Organizer, Chris Delaney, says the petition to repeal the HST has crossed the Elections BC 10% threshold in 83 of 85 ridings with over 6 weeks still to go in the campaign.
Delaney says the Fight HST internal threshold of 15% or more has been reached in 57 of 85 ridings.
“These numbers are particularly exciting, since they represent only 64 of 85 ridings reporting. Many areas of the province that had reached their targets took a break for the long weekend. We’ll finish up the remaining two ridings next weekend, and will meet both the Elections BC requirement of 10% as well as our own internal threshold of 15% in all ridings by the first or second week of June,” said Delaney.
