RECALL RECRUITMENT CAMPAIGN ADDS 40% MORE IN WEEK TWO FOR TOTAL OF 2,016 CANVASSERS
Oak Bay, Kamloops North and Saanich North continue to lead, while Chilliwack and Parksville-Qualicum tie for fourth place
Port Coquitlam – The Fight HST Survivor Recall canvasser recruitment campaign has added another 354 volunteers to the 18 ridings that are competing to see which will be one of the three to conduct Recalls first under the Fight HST banner, says Lead Organizer Chris Delaney.
Delaney says the total number of canvassers signed up as of week two of the contest is over 1,215 in the 18 competing ridings, with another 821 volunteers at large for a total of over 2,016 volunteers province-wide.
“The big question is which riding is going to go after the first three Recalls? The three front runners, Oak Bay, Kamloops North and Saanich North are well over the 100 volunteer mark each, while Chilliwack and Parksville are tied at 95 canvassers a piece,” said Delaney.

PRESS RELEASE: FIGHT HST RECALL RECRUITMENT DRIVE SIGNS UP OVER 1,500 IN WEEK ONE
Oct 4, 2010 Press Release
FIGHT HST RECALL RECRUITMENT DRIVE SIGNS UP OVER 1,500 CANVASSERS IN WEEK ONE OF CONTEST
Oak Bay, Kamloops North and Saanich North lead the pack
Port Coquitlam – Chris Delaney, Lead Organizer for Fight HST, says the contest to recruit canvassers for Recalls in BC got off to a strong start in its first week, as 19 ridings compete to see which will win the right to be among the first three to conduct a Recall under the Fight HST banner after November 15th 2010.
Delaney says over 1,500 canvassers from all ridings across the province have signed up so far, with the highest concentrations coming in the ridings of Oak Bay – Gordon Head, Kamloops North and Saanich North, where a total of 381 canvassers have volunteered between them.
“This is an even better start for canvassers than we had in the first week of recruiting for the Initiative petition,” said Delaney. “That tells me first that there is a very strong desire for Recall, and second that we are much better organized this time than when we first began the petition against the HST.”
